Dark chocolate, etc….
8 December 2009
A friend just bought me a bar of dark chocolate, which was nice. On the whole, I prefer it to other types, but there’s something about milk chocolate that is just that bit more enjoyable, a bit less grown-up. I feel like I ought to prefer dark chocolate, and there’s an element of guilt when I find myself devouring a Dairy Milk…….
Kind of like music; stuff like My Morning Jacket and Death Cab for Cutie are a bitter ‘nibbler’ in comparison to the chunkier, more straightforward hit of Rage Against the Machine. Sometimes you just want something that does what it says on the tin; sometimes huge riffs and chant-along obscenities are the order of the day…..
So anyway. I’m supposed to be writing the latest version of the Cooper Christmas newsletter. I was thinking about a modern take on ‘A Christmas Carol’, casting myself as Scrooge, but it could be a lot of effort….. Maybe I’ll just go for the more conventional list of people who’ve died, interspersed with uninteresting holiday details. I’ll let you know how that goes, and maybe share some of my favourite extracts from other people’s newsletters at another time……
In case anyone is actually interested, I’m planning on completing the first draft of my current book over the holidays. I’ve already got a couple of ideas for others knocking around; if you’re a fan of pantomime horses, then you might be slightly more excited than you already are. But you’ll probably have to wait about three years….

Don’t get excited – it’s only a test comment.
